During the summer of 2011, he attended Interlochen Arts Camp for bassoon, where he was in the Interlochen Symphony Band and a chamber ensemble. He played in the 2011 Indiana All-State Orchestra and was first chair in both the 2012 and 2013 All-State Orchestras. Additionally, he was in the 2010 Indiana All-State Band and 2011 All-State Honors Band. Last year, he won the youth concerto competition of the Musical Arts Youth Orchestra, and, this past fall, he played a solo with North’s Symphonic Band.
As this year’s winner, Matt will receive a Scholarship (sponsored by Ars Antiqua), and has been invited to perform Weber’s Bassoon Concerto in F major with the Orchestra in our upcoming concert, Tiaras and Tragedy on February 23rd and 24th.
