Music is essential. It helps us understand ourselves and each other. It changes the world in ways that are both subtle and breathtaking. Music is life. But like other things in life, the basic needs of music must be met for it to thrive. It needs performers. It needs audiences. It needs a place to happen. It needs all of us to help it continue and grow.
Our Fanfare Fundraising Initiative strives to improve the financial health and stability of the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra. Since 1969, the BSO has been a source of great music, community enrichment, and incredible memories. It deserves to have a secure financial footing, so the artists involved can focus on continuing to bring these experiences to the Bloomington community.
There will be more news about Fanfare over the course of the next few months, but for now, please give this question some thought: What does the BSO mean to you, personally? If it has value, if you can’t imagine a Bloomington without it, then please think of ways to contribute to the success of our community orchestra.
I say this all the time, but it is unquestionably true – we really couldn’t do it without you!
Warmly,
Donna M. Lafferty, Executive Director
